Phakding

The First Stop on the Everest Base Camp Trek

Phakding, located at an altitude of 2,610 meters (8,563 feet), is a small village in the Khumbu region of Nepal, situated along the trail to Everest Base Camp. It serves as the first major stop for trekkers coming from Lukla, following their arrival via the famous Tenzing-Hillary Airport. Phakding is a peaceful village nestled in the Dudh Koshi River valley, offering stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and lush rhododendron forests.

Phakding is a popular spot for trekkers to rest on their first day of trekking, offering a variety of lodges and teahouses where travelers can enjoy a warm meal and spend the night. The village is relatively small, but it has all the basic amenities required for trekkers, including shops and places to relax before continuing the journey to Namche Bazaar.

From Phakding, the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, with the route passing through small Sherpa villages and suspension bridges that add to the scenic beauty of the trek.
