Lungden

A Quiet Village on the Way to Renjo La Pass

Lungden, located at an altitude of 4,380 meters (14,370 feet), is a small, peaceful village situated in the Khumbu region of Nepal. It lies on the trail that leads to the Renjo La Pass, which connects the Gokyo Valley to the Thame Valley. Lungden serves as a helpful stop for trekkers aiming to cross Renjo La, providing a place to rest and acclimatize before the challenging ascent to the pass.

The village is surrounded by stunning mountain landscapes, with views of nearby peaks like Cho Oyu and Tawoche. It is a relatively quiet area, offering trekkers a serene environment to prepare for the next leg of the journey. Lungden has a few basic teahouses and lodges, where travelers can find food, shelter, and a place to relax.

Due to its altitude and its location on the route to Renjo La, Lungden is an important acclimatization stop, helping trekkers adjust to the high elevations before continuing their trek. From Lungden, it’s a relatively short journey to Renjo La, where trekkers are rewarded with incredible views of the Himalayas.
