Khumjung

The village of infamous Yeti Scalp!

Nestled in the heart of the Khumbu region of Nepal, Khumjung is a picturesque Sherpa village situated at an altitude of 3,790 meters (12,430 feet). Surrounded by towering peaks, including Ama Dablam and Thamserku, the village offers breathtaking scenery and a deep cultural heritage.

Khumjung is home to the Khumjung Monastery, which is famous for housing a supposed yeti scalp, adding a touch of mystery to the region. The village also boasts the Hillary School, founded by Sir Edmund Hillary in 1961 as part of his efforts to improve education in the Himalayas.

With its traditional stone houses, vibrant Sherpa culture, and stunning alpine landscapes, Khumjung provides an authentic glimpse into life in the Everest region. It serves as a peaceful stop for trekkers on their way to Everest Base Camp and other high-altitude destinations, offering both adventure and tranquility in equal measure.
