🕉️ Historical Significance

  • Founded by: Lama Khyenpa Dorje

  • Construction Period: Between 1667 and 1672

  • One of the Three Oldest Monasteries in the region

  • Holds great religious and cultural value in the Khumbu area


⚠️ Earthquake Damage and Restoration

  • 2015 Earthquake: The monastery suffered significant structural damage

  • Restoration Completed: Early 2019

  • Support: Rebuilt with the help of donations, especially from donors in China and South Korea

  • Despite hardships, it has been fully restored and is active again


👨‍🦲 Monastic Life

  • Current Residents: Around 30 lamas reside here

  • Notable Fact: The monastery is home to three reincarnate lamas, who are brothers—a highly rare and unique occurrence in Tibetan Buddhism
