Dingboche to Lobuche

A Challenging Ascent Towards Everest

The trek from Dingboche to Lobuche offers an exciting and challenging stretch, bringing you closer to Everest Base Camp. The path leads through rugged terrain, with stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

  • Elevation at Dingboche: 4,410 meters (14,470 feet)

  • Elevation at Lobuche: 4,940 meters (16,207 feet)

  • Distance: 8.7 km (5.5 miles)

  • Elevation Gain: +530 meters (1,740 feet)

  • Trek Duration: 5–6 hours

The trek begins with a gradual ascent through the high-altitude landscape, offering fantastic views of nearby peaks like Pumori and Nuptse. The path passes through alpine meadows and rocky outcrops, and you’ll cross a number of small ridges with views of glaciers and icefalls.

As you approach Lobuche, the terrain becomes more exposed, with strong winds and a more barren landscape. Lobuche itself is a small settlement, offering a few teahouses where trekkers can rest and acclimatize before continuing to Everest Base Camp.

The high-altitude environment makes this stretch both physically demanding and incredibly rewarding, as the surroundings become more dramatic with each step. This is an important stop to rest and prepare for the final push toward Everest Base Camp.
