Namche to Tengboche

A Scenic Day!

After acclimatizing in Namche Bazaar, the trek to Tengboche is one of the most scenic stretches of the journey. The path offers stunning views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, some of the most iconic mountains in the world.

  • Elevation at Namche Bazaar: 3,440 meters (11,290 feet)

  • Elevation at Tengboche: 3,860 meters (12,664 feet)

  • Distance: 10 km (6.2 miles)

  • Elevation Gain: +420 meters (1,380 feet)

  • Trek Duration: 5–6 hours

The trek starts with a gradual ascent, following a well-maintained trail through lush forests of pine and juniper. As you make your way out of Namche, the views of Everest and the surrounding peaks begin to open up, offering breathtaking photo opportunities. Along the way, you will pass through small Sherpa villages, cross suspension bridges, and enjoy the vibrant Buddhist culture of the region.

After about 2–3 hours of trekking, you’ll reach the village of Phungi Thanka, where you can have lunch, and continue along the trail that ascends steadily towards Tengboche. The highlight of this trek is the stunning Tengboche Monastery, one of the largest and most revered in the Khumbu region. The monastery sits at the foot of the towering peaks and offers an unforgettable view of the surrounding mountains.

Upon reaching Tengboche, you can explore the monastery, interact with the monks, and take in the breathtaking vistas. This serene location serves as a perfect place to rest before continuing your journey toward Everest Base Camp.
