Thulo Gumela

Lush forests, beautiful hills

Thulo Gumela is a small, remote village located in the Khumbu region of Nepal, situated at an altitude of around 2,400 meters (7,874 feet). It is located on the trek to Namche Bazaar from Lukla, nestled in the lower parts of the Dudh Koshi River valley. This peaceful village is not as commonly visited by trekkers as other villages like Phakding or Namche, but it offers a quieter and more tranquil stop for those on the Everest trek.

Thulo Gumela is surrounded by lush forests, beautiful hills, and offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains. The village itself has basic facilities like lodges and teahouses, providing trekkers with a restful place to stop before continuing their ascent to more popular destinations like Namche Bazaar. The area is known for its serenity and natural beauty, making it a great spot to take a break and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Khumbu region.

Though it is off the main trekking path for many, Thulo Gumela offers trekkers a chance to experience a more traditional side of life in the Sherpa communities and a peaceful moment before venturing further into the higher altitudes of the Everest region.
